During my recent stay at Hotel Diego in Copiapó, my experience was a mixed bag, offering both comfort and challenges. Priced at around $143 per night, it puts you in a central location right on the main plaza, perfect for exploring the local scene and convenient for those attending the Dakar Rally. The room itself was spacious, with a flat-screen TV and effective air conditioning. I appreciated the good housekeeping; the place was generally clean. The breakfast spread was decent, featuring a variety of fruits, pastries, and deli options - a solid start to my day. I faced a serious issue with the bathroom; a slippery floor and poor shower installation led to an unfortunate accident. There was no phone in the bathroom, which compounded the situation when I needed assistance. After the incident, the staff were not as helpful as I had hoped. On the flip side, the hotel does offer a fitness center, free Wi-Fi, and a seasonal outdoor pool. While the amenities were suited for a comfortable stay, the overall experience left me contemplating the balance between luxury and value. It's worth considering if you prioritize location and specific amenities.
